    1.1oz 30D Ripstop Nylon

30D 1.1oz ripstop nylon is a staple fabric in the ultralight gear world. It has DWR treatment making it wind and water resistant and is treated to be downproof. It is not nearly as windproof or water resistant as the 20D nylon, but at a fraction of the cost it makes affordable and still very usable equipment.

    Cuben Fiber

The CTF³ product line are flexible non-woven laminates that utilize DSM Dyneema® fibers. Cuben Fiber is waterproof and non-breathable: This allows us to create quilts with total weatherproofness and the built in qualities of a vapor barrier sack. We use .33 and .51oz yd2 materials which weigh half of their nylon counterparts allowing us to make a quilt with maximum performance and minimum weight. The .33oz is the lightest outdoor material we know of and as such has some durability limitations. It is important to take the highest level of care with these quilts to ensure long life. If durability is a concern please try the .51oz material which adds ~1oz to the weight of your quilt but nearly twice the durability.

    Momentum 90/Intrepid 20D Nylons

We use the very high quality Momentum90 and Intrepid 20D ripstop nylons. They are very similar products from different suppliers. Both are .9oz base weight with a high quality DWR treatment (1.05-1.15oz finished weights). These fabrics offer much more wind and water resistance than the standard 1.1oz ripstop nylon. The soft hand and smooth texture of these fabrics make them more comfortable against the skin than lower quality nylons more commonly found on other quilts. These fabrics are generally 3-4 times the cost of generic 1.1oz ripstop which explains the premium cost for our quilts but I truly believe they make a premium product.
