Our original and best selling quilt! A favorite of long distance hikers, the Revelation Quilt is known for its amazing versatility, thoughtful design, and ultralight weight. On warm nights, The Revelation can lay open as a blanket, and in colder temperatures, you can cinch the adjustable 1/4 length zipper footbox closed. This design allows you to dial in a comfortable night’s sleep in a wide range of different temperatures and climates. The perfect option for active sleepers!

The Revelation is a quilt, not a sleeping bag, which means it’s designed to be used with a sleeping pad to provide insulation underneath you, between you and the ground. The Revelation doesn’t have a full-length zipper or a built-in hood, saving weight and space in your pack.

A Reliable Quilt

When deciding on a lightweight quilt, Enlightened Equipment was one brand I heard a lot about. After I purchased the quilt I heard a lot of people talk about being cold in EE’s quilts. I was worried, but I thought ahead and bought a 10° with 850 Fill down instead of the 20° quilts others bought. I tested the quilt indoors near an open window on my sleeping pad and it was alright. The fit and comfort of the quilt was great, but I was very warm in it. The temp probably got into the mid 50’s in the room I was in, so definitely a little warmer than what I would use this quilt in normally. I decided that test wasn’t enough, so on a cold night recently that got down to 12°F, and felt like 6-9°F. I realized after setting up my tent that I should’ve shoveled the snow away from my tent site so it wouldn’t interfere with pads ability to insulate. The quilt kept me very warm, however, the snow melted into ice under my tent and my pad was unable to compensate for the added cold. But my feet, which were completely surrounded by the quilt were so warm, and this is a big thing for me. I sleep warm but my feet and hands get cold very easily, so the fact that the quilt kept my feet warm says a lot about how the cold I felt was because my sleeping pad didn’t do well in the condition I put it through. Whatever temperature rating you get, make sure you have a sleeping pad that has an R-value that matches the conditions this quilt will be used in. As for how it performed, I was very happy that the quilt was able to keep me warm despite a slightly weaker sleeping pad than needed. And the versatility of the quilt, being able to close the toe box or open it up to function as a blanket, is outstanding. This is definitely going to be my starting quilt for my Appalachian Trail hike this year and I have a 40° synthetic version that I plan on switching out as it really warms up. I will certainly continue purchasing the Revelation from Enlightened Equipment as needed because I was very happy with the quality and how perfect the quilt was for me.
