The epiphany uses CUBEN FIBER inside and out. This fabric is lighter than standard 1.1oz and .9oz nylons by over half (.48oz or .33oz cuben fiber available). In addition to being light this fabric is also waterproof which protects the 800+ fill down from wetness. The down in the quilt lofts by drawing air in through the seams and needle holes that are formed in the quilt's creation *thus the quilt is not waterproof*. This allows the Epiphany line of quilts to be highly weather resistant while still lofting and compressing in a timely manor. To aide in lofting fluff the quilt a few times after unpacking it. The CUBEN FIBER acts as a vapor barrier, trapping your body's vapor inside keeping you warmer (please research vapor barriers to be 100% sure it is right for you). The epiphany uses a neck snap and tiny shock cord understraps to allow upper body venting. We use a zippered and drawcorded footbox to assist in venting the foot area. This quilt is the ultimate in light weight cold weather insulation.

VIDEO review of the original Epiphany
All the features of an Epiphany in an Hammock UnderQuilt. A 76"x44" rectangle stripped of every unnecessary feature, the Epiphany UQ is all cuben fiber and down with 4 corner and 2 mid-point tie-out loops to use with your own suspension lines. The baffles run the length of the quilt instead of the width to help keep the down positioned right where you need it.

The performance of CUBEN FIBER and the reliability of Climashield insulation. We use a stripe of 20D 0.9oz near the head of this quilt to aide in stuffing (otherwise it is just one big puffball as you stuff it). A cuben stripe at the top keeps your breath from soaking the nylon and this helps keep the insulation dry. This quilt is the most weather resistant option we have. The lack of stitching on the shell of the quilt keeps the cuben fully water proof and the use of synthetic insulation allows the quilt to still provide warmth in the most humid environments. We still recommend using a shelter with this quilt but it can be very minimal only needed to keep direct precipitation off the head and foot of the quilt.
The prodigy uses Climashield Synthetic insulation and high quality 20D 0.9oz Nylon offering a high performance quilt at a value. This quilt balances weight, cost, and compressibility to allow anyone to afford an ultralight quilt that will serve them for years to come.
The Protege is a micro sized Prodigy designed for kids. The protege is a 34"x56" rectangle with a foot drawcord and a zippered footbox. The quilt is left long as we aren't using a top drawcord to insure the safety of our quilt/blanket for the youngest campers. We still use high quality 20D nylon and Climashield insulation to insure the little ones stay toasty warm. Instead of offering lots of sizes to fit kids of all ages we recommend having the child sleep in the footbox with the rest of the quilt folded under until they are large enough to need the rest of the quilt. This should allow them to use this quilt from birth until they are ready for a small adult bag or quilt. The quilt weighs 12oz with 5oz XP insulation.
A stripe of 20D nylon can be added to your Epiphany quilt to increase air flow into and out of the down in your quilt. Under most circumstances we have found that it isn't needed. However, if the quilt will be used in humid environments or situations where the down will be exposed to excessive moisture the stripe will allow you to dry the quilt faster as there will be an increase in the rate water vapor can escape.
Some have also expressed interest in adding a stripe of contrasting color to our nylon quilts for a little spice of coolness. You can add the stripe to any quilt you wish but if ordering multiple quilts please specify which ones need stripes.
